Finally, 2020 is done! What better way to start 2021 than with the Kippie Lodge 12 week challenge. For those of you who are interested here’s the big question. What's it all about? The 12 week challenge, at Kippie Lodge Aberdeen, is an annual event, beginning on the 4th of January, 2021. Created to encourage members to get more involved, active and of course have lots of fun. The challenge gives participants a goal that needs to be accomplished in the 12 week time period and is completed using the gym facilities or club activities, such as golf or tennis at Kippie Lodge Sports and Country Club. If you have decided to walk, run, cycle or take part in more fitness classes you can!Every week Gym Team member Daniel will be posting on Facebook, and via email our weekly gym challenges. Further details to follow. Participation How do I participate in the 12 week challenge? Sign up and pay £5 to participate (more on the £5 below). You can do this at reception before the 4th of January 2020. Choose no less than 1 activity (such as running, swimming or cycling) and complete your distance (i.e. 5 kilometres). There will be a white board in the gym where you can add your times with another in the Dome for the fastest serve challenge. There are upto 4 options for each activity and these are designed to accommodate different fitness levels. There are also family, or “team”, challenges and for the more adventurous, you can opt in for the triathlon. Heres a little about AberNessities AberNessitiesAn organisation that aims to support local, underprivileged families in Aberdeen and the shire. By providing them with much needed essentials such as nappies, wipes, children’s clothes and toiletries they help them support their babies and children. Back to the challenge… Additional Info. Ambassadors During your 12 week challenge our “Kippie Lodge ambassadors” will check in on your progress and provide you with some encouragement. Who that will be depends on your chosen activity. For those of you taking up Gym challenges, your ambassador will be the Daniel from the gym team. Daniel If you are planning on activities away from the gym such as tennis, golf or swimming. Then Nicky will be your ambassador. Nicky Completion The Kippie team are working on a “Winner of Winners” prize that will be awarded annually. As this is the first year it will be decided and announced before the 4th. It will most likely consist of the winners name on an “annual” plaque in the club. I’ll update you all once we have a final conformation on what this will be. But… Most importantly… drum roll please… for completing the challenge you will recieve a… certificate! ok…ok…sit down…don’t all get your fiver’s out at once… But seriously, you will get the certificate for completion and you can show it to all your friends and family. Show offs! The Challenges What challenges can I do ? Ok, lets take a look… Swimming A keen swimmer? Well this might be the challenge for you. Affectionately named the “Loch” down challenge… see what they did there…cough…ok moving on…choose your desired Loch and swim it’s length in 12 weeks. Then proudly boast to your friends and family that you did it without arm bands! (which used to be called a Marathon…but thats a story for another time). If it is, then choose running for your 12 week challenge. Ever wondered how fast you can hit the ball? How long can you rally the ball back and forth? Gonna be honest i’m not a tennis player so i’m not sure if that terminology is correct. But, Im sure you tennis folks will see through my ignorance… if you have any complaints then my names Robin…if everything is ok my name is Colin. (heh heh heh)You can also participate in a singles or doubles match. How thrilling! Option 1Option 2Option 3Option 4 Tennis ChallengeAbility to play a Singles & Doubles match 100 Ball Rally 20 Cross x2, 20 straight x 2 20 open Rally for Life on 1 ball Target 1,500-2,000 in 1 hour Champion of Champions Tournament Singles & Doubles Tournament date in March TBC Fastest serve challenge - radar gun available in the dome - leader board in dome 7 Hole Speed Golf How fast can you hit the ball onto the green? Can you do it walking or maybe you’d like to run? Even better your not required to putt them in. Best challenge ever! Option 1 7 Holes Speed GolfPlayers run/walk fast while hitting a ball onto each green. No putts required. Work up to challenge tournament date on Saturday the 20th of March Exercise Classes Maybe your “thing” is turning up and doing a class? If it is, then your in luck. Use your class it to take part in the 12 week challenge! Whether it’s bootcamp, conditioning or even step. Go the distance, have a stretch and beat your personal best. Don’t forget to hydrate! Each week you will start a new exercise. For example; week 1 squats, week 3 running, week 5 burpees and week 11 and 12 box jumps into bicep curls. Each of you can choose your favourite activity. Cycle the equivalent of Aberdeen to London or row from Dover to Calais. Run Calais to Paris then while your there don’t forget to climb the Eiffel tower. Of course you’ll want to do it all at Kippie. Travel restrictions…you know! Note: It is recommended that one member co-ordinates the challenge - these can be split up however the team wants - as long as the distances are all covered over the 12 weeks. Train in swimming, cycling and running over the 12 weeks. Complete the triathlon at a date in March. They do say the best things come in 3’s! What better way to do that than to get in the best shape of your life. Well… at the very least have a ton of fun. The 12 week challenge will not only raise money for a good cause, “AberNessities”, but it will assist you in reaching your own personal achievement and fitness goals. We will all, along with Nicky and Daniel, be rooting for you to succeed. Once you have completed 2021’s challenge keep up the good work. Cause in 2022 you are going to have to beat your best.
